2020 has been a hard and challenging year for all of us. It's the small acts of kindness that have gotten us through it all. Showing kindness together, volunteering together, that helper’s high that’s shared with someone else creates a long-lasting experience. There’s nothing else that is so deeply connecting than doing something kind together.
A little help from our friends
2020 has been a hard and challenging year for all of us. It's the small acts of kindness that have gotten us through it all. Showing kindness together, volunteering together, that helper’s high that’s shared with someone else creates a long-lasting experience. There’s nothing else that is so deeply connecting than doing something kind together. This month, Monroe's Columbia Bank wanted to "Pass it on" with their Pass it On Project and chose us to do so. We were more than delighted! We knew that the Sky Valley Food Bank was in need of cat food donations so we partnered up with Fromm Pet Foods to maximize the donation and turned it into 66 bags of food for those that need it most.
Columbia's new Pass it On Project aims to put small businesses throughout the Northwest back to work with a focus on those struggling the most. Through this program, Columbia will pay small businesses more than $500,000 to perform services for people whose lives have been adversely impacted by the pandemic or the economic downturn it caused. Services being offered range from food deliveries and home maintenance to dental work and auto body repair. The bank expects to reach more than 350 small businesses and many more individuals and families in the Northwest through the Pass it On Project initiative.
Headquartered in Tacoma, Washington, Columbia Banking System, Inc. (NASDAQ: COLB) is the holding company of Columbia Bank, a Washington state-chartered full-service commercial bank with locations throughout Washington, Oregon and Idaho. For the 13th consecutive year, the bank was named in 2019 as one of Puget Sound Business Journal's "Washington's Best Workplaces," and for the 9th consecutive year, Columbia has been ranked as one of the nation's best banks by Forbes. More information about Columbia's Pass it On Project can be found on its website at www.columbiabank.com.
Sky Valley Food Bank
"You can donate pet food to the Sky Valley Food Bank?" Heck yes you can. The Sky Valley Food Bank has been around helping people in Monroe since 1976, "Neighbors Helping Neighbors". The Food Bank helps serve roughly 1,350 people a month and are here to help the community. Not only does the food bank help with food, they strive to be as "store like" as possible helping with specific needs like baby things, toiletries and yes, even pet food. They couldn't do it without all the donations they get from the community and small businesses around Monroe.
Donate through us
Ever wonder what happens to our expiring or returned items? We have a "Food Bank" barrel here at the store and donate around 200lbs in product a month. You can donate through us or take your donations directly to the food bank, we have even had customers take advantage of our BOGO sales and donate the free bag they received to the community.
Fromm Family Pet Food
We chose Fromm Pet food for the donation of cat food because their company is one of the select few that steps up to help us every chance they can. Fromm is a small 5th generation family-owned pet food company that we have carried in stores for over 10 years. If you have come to any of our annual sales or Holiday events you have seen them there with a tent, a big smile and free samples for you and your pets.
Pass it on
We are grateful and humbled to be a part of this great program and community. Again, we wouldn't be able to do any of this without you and these small acts of kindness. Lets keep the wheel turning and 'Pass it on" or pay it forward where we can. Even a simple “Hello” can make someone feel like they’re part of a community. Thanks again to Columbia Bank and Fromm Pet Foods for this wonderful donation. Make kindness the norm, not the exception.
